About Me

Hi, I'm Alessia Mezzalira
I’m an Italian psychologist living and working in the Netherlands since 2020.
Moving to a new country was my first big life challenge and also one of the most rewarding.
It taught me a lot about resilience, vulnerability, and the courage it takes to start over in a new place.

Supporting and being there for others has always been a part of who I am.
I listen with presence, empathy, and without judgment, creating space where you can feel safe to be exactly as you are.
What often helps me connect with people is my natural warmth and openness.
Clients tell me they feel at ease with me right away, and that makes our work together feel genuine, human, and real.
Therapy, for me, is not about following rigid models. It’s about adapting to you, your rhythm, your needs, your world.

I like to think creatively, and I believe that even in difficult times, there’s always a way forward.
I’m someone who doesn’t just listen: I also offer concrete tools to help you feel more empowered and supported.

I worked for several years within the Dutch specialized mental health care system (SGGZ), an experience that has deeply enriched me both personally and professionally.

It was the clients I met during these years - their encouragement, trust, and stories - that inspired me to embark on this new adventure. Starting this practice is a dream I’ve carried with me for a long time.
Being self-employed means I can work in a way that completely reflects who I am, and be fully present for the people I support, without restrictions, without compromises.
It’s a big step, and I feel honored to support those who choose to take it by starting their journey in my practice.

Professional Background
I am a psychologist with a cognitive-behavioral orientation, with specialization in psychosomatic.

I hold a Master’s Degree (MSc) in Clinical and Developmental Psychology and Neuropsychology from the University of
Milano–Bicocca.

Before moving to the Netherlands, I spent a year working in a hospital setting as a trainee neuropsychologist, gaining hands-on experience in patient care and neuropsychological assessment.

Since 2020, I have continued my professional journey within the Dutch SGGZ system as a Psychosomatic Psychologist, providing psychological support to people facing complex issues such as chronic pain, stress, anxiety, depression and psychosomatic disorders.
This experience allowed me to engage with a wide range of situations, working in a dynamic and creative way. I helped individuals regain a sense of balance by using tools that integrate mind and body, as I deeply believe these two worlds are inseparable and that true wellbeing comes from listening to and caring for both.

In my practice I offer therapy sessions in English, Italian, and Dutch, in a safe, warm, and welcoming space, where you can feel supported just as you are.
